Friendly, smiling transgender depth psychologist, Brooke Ferragamo PhD

Brooke Ferragamo, PhD (he/him)

Here’s a little about me:

I’m a clinical psychologist serving folks primarily in person in San Francisco, where I work with adolescents and adults. A major focus of my practice is on work with the LGBTQ+ and kink communities, but I love working with people of all genders and sexualities - if you’re straight, cisgender, and vanilla, you’re also welcome here. Most importantly, I’m passionate about helping folks explore their inner worlds and learn more about how they relate to others.

I grew up in Davis, CA, and received my BS in Psychology from UC Davis, along with a minor in Feminist Women’s Studies. I got my PhD (and nonterminal Master’s) in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology here in San Francisco. Outside of the office, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with animals. I’m also proud to be a huge nerd - I enjoy playing and collecting Magic: The Gathering, knitting, and practicing Aikido (a nonviolent traditional Japanese martial art).

My approach to therapy

In my therapy office, you’ll find openness without judgment.

We might be a particularly good fit if you’re curious about the ways in which you participate (often unknowingly) in the patterns that you’re currently trapped in. These same patterns often play out in the office between therapist and client, so we’ll likely experience them together. Understanding the underpinnings of these patterns can lead to new perspectives on life.

Therapy will hopefully include experiences of:

  • Curiosity: What’s going on here?

  • Agency: What am I contributing to the situations I keep getting into?

  • Complexity: I can feel guilty about my part in a conflict and still be furious with the other person for it.

  • Playfulness: You saw something scary there… I kind of hated that… tell me more.
